What is the difference between Nextel and Sprint PCS coverage?

My company currently has Nextel service, but has told us that they are moving to Sprint PCS....What is the difference? Is the coverage the same or better? I thought Nextel was purchased by Sprint? I live in a rural area, and Nextel coverage is somewhat poor. I am hoping that Sprint coverage, if different, would be better... Anyone have any info? Thanks.
