Default Is it worth it to upgrade to a hybrid phone from nextel? Is anyone happy with that

phone? I've been with nextel service for 7 yrs. It was cool to have the push to talk feature on the phone being in the Military. Now that Im out and seem not to use it at all. I've noticed that Nextel service really sucks were I live. Text messaging has been a big thing now adays. And I've noticed that with other phone providers you can write a noval and the text message will always be delivered. Not with Nextel, Once you go over the 150 characters...thats it. Your party will be texting back, "Ah you got cut off after, then I hung..."
Im planning on switching to Verizon, but before I do. I want to give Nextel/Sprint a chance on the Hybrid phone. I currently have the i870 and think its too bulky. But at the time when it was new. I thought it was alright. Anyways, thanks for reading and for the advice?
