Upgrade Nextel Plan To A Sprint Plan??

Okay, I have a nextel phone with a 2 year contract. and i want to upgrade that plan to a sprint plan with unlimited text, and i was wondering if i had to wait until the 2 year contract expired or if i could do it anytime without any fee's? please let me know. and the contract should end by June of next 2010.
