Verizon Wireless on a Nextel Blackberry?

I recently received a used blackberry model RAW2OIN. The phone is programmed to operate with Nextel which uses a SIM card. I currently have a mobile contract with Verizon Wireless; so will there be anyway to work this phone with Verizon?. Possibly a universal SIM card?
