Nextel service.?

I have Nextel for cellphone service and when I went to call a friend of mine I got a message saying service restricted I also got another message saying emergency calls only. My contract is not over for another month. The phone I have is a Motorola i560. My Direct-Talk and Walkie-Talkie is not working either. What could be the problem?
