why I can check my gmail on my nextel phone 880?

I am able to check my yahoo email in my 880 phone but when I send the link from gmail it never go trought and if I go to the page from my phone and sing in it tells me my user name or pass work is not rigth but is not true any one have this problem or is something I am doing wrong please help Nextel don't understand why and wants me to get a new phone with an upgrade of course , you think is my phone please help me any advise I appreciate
