My family has been with NEXTEL for years. We hate it. We have been looking at going to Verizon, but last week we renewed our 2 yr contract. Today we find out it will cost $800 to cancel that contract so we can switch to a better provider with newer, better phones. Is there anything we can do to get out of that contract without paying? Or at least paying that much? Because that is INSANE. I know they're trying to keep customers, but an unhappy customer is never fun for anyone.

Sorry I work for Sprint/Nextel part time and there really isn't anything you can do. You may be able to talk to someone in customer service about reducing the fee but they usually won't. The fee is so that you won't leave.
