Sprint Cell Phone Activation Fee?

I'm looking to buy a Sprint cell phone, if I buy from the store the activation fee is $36.00. My question is, do I pay the activation fee when I buy the phone or will it appear on my first bill?

With Sprint, you can pay for the activation fee on the spot, but usually it will go through your phone bill.
