if i have a crappy phone from telus..is that why i dont get good cell

phone reception? my phone ususally has no bars on it when im at my house. because of bad cell phone reception..but if i get a better phone from telus..like the blackberry pearl..will i get better reception? or does the phone reception from telus just suck in my area. (p.s i dont live in the country or anything)
