Can I sell my New Every Two Phone from Verizon Wireless?

My two years were recently up on Verizon and I got a new phone for free. I currently have a phone that works great and could much rather use the cash than a new phone. Is it ok to sell the new phone that i received from verizon without ever activating it to my service? Will the phone still work for the person I sell it to?
