TK VZW Guy is correct, however you can also do it online if you have your account set up online (or the primary contract holder does). Just keep in mind that if you call up Verizon or go into one of their stores there is a very good chance that they will charge you to do this because you are basically doing an activation and activation fees are either $25 or $35 now. If you do it online there is no activation fee charge. I've done this for my daughter as we had to send her phone into LG as it was possessed (dialed numbers on it's own, etc) after 1 month of owning the phone so I had to reactivate her old Razr. When I called they were going to charge me, and then they said I could do it online for free. No problem whatsoever.

If you or the primary holder doesn't have an account online just go to http://www.verizonwireless.com and follow the prompts. It's pretty easy and painless.

Good luck!

yes you can, just need to do what is called an ESN change. now, if the two phones that are switching are on different accounts, you need to have the account holder for both accounts to be present when calling in.
you also need the ESN MEID or ESN DEC number for both phones. this can be found under the battery on the phone on a white sticker. it might also be called an ESN HEX number

btw, no it doesn't extend contracts or cost anything to do this
