Yes. Some phones are dual mode and some are tri. The tri mode phones will give you a stronger signal in places where you may not get a good signal now. Keep in mind there are areas where a signal may not be very good AT ALL no matter what phone you have. Ask Verizon if you can test the newly purchased phone for a week to see if it will be what you are looking for. They allow this courtesy to new customers and should have no problem extending it to you as well. And note, that if you don't get the answers you are looking for at a store (always be sure to visit a corporate store, not a third party retailer) call HQ 866-904-7222 or *611 from your wireless phone. They will ship you a new phone just as you would buy one from the store, and you can always scope out what you want in a store before calling in. Hope this helps.

Your problem is not with your phone or your service. It's related to your antenna signal strength. Buildings will block some or all of a cell service signal if far enough away from the cell phone tower. You could get a booster antenna repeater for your home that everyone can use. I'll list a website below that has valuable information on this and it is worth reading. You might even want to start on the "about this website" button. That website is continously updating and and they have RSS feeds too.
