I am looking to buy the new Apple Phone as a Christmas present to my mother who lives in Spain. I was going to buy it from the UK and then ger her to put her Spanish Sim card in but I hear it is not possible to do that without encountering problems. I know in the UK you can buy the phone through O2 so my question is can you do the same in Spain or can you just buy the phone and go with whichever company you choose? Hope that makes sense. All answers very much appreciated.

Iphone is not out in Spain until sometime 2008.
I got mine in the uk, unlocked it, and use a Spanish vodaphone sim.
