"apple is releasing the software development kit for the iphone in feburary. The reason why it is not released now is because they are trying to come up with an SDK that is secure; something that will make the developers happy and yet limited them from hacking the core of the OS.

about iphone2, I am not sure what's going to happen with that.. but if I have to guess, I would say they will not wait 5 years... look at the ipod, they came out one after another. As soon as they come up with something better, they release it.
