why are the ringtones on the iphone monopolized by apple?

okay i used to have a lg phone and i found plenty of places on the web to down load ringtones and answer tones now i have upgraded to the new iphone and i cant find ringtones or answertones anywhere but itunes why is that this is america people where are my OPTIONS i was born here and raised here i need OPTIONS
