Should I go to the Apple store or AT&T store for problems with my iPhone?

I've had it since it first came out and I bought it from the AT&T store. The screen sometimes doesn't work sometimes and there is a white spot in the middle of the screen too.

Is it better to go to the Apple store or could AT&T help me too?
