apple iphone internet question?

when using the internet on the apple iphone,

do u have to have a wireless internet connection or be in a wifi hot spot?

or can u access then internet anywhere and everywhere???

please answer if u kno because i cant find the answer

You can only access the wifi of an AT&T Gateway 2Wire wireless modem with the iPhone
