...iphone is gsm but look at new spec i know the iphoen is gsm and verizon is cdma but i looked on phone scoop and under modes it claims to have multiple, ( GSM 850 / GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900
WCDMA 850 / WCDMA 1900 / WCDMA 2100) so WCDMA = work on verizon????

just curious cause im about to switch.

No, no.

CDMA and W-CDMA aren't the same thing. W-CMDA is a type of 3G cell network (upgrade from GSM).

Verizon's CDMA is actually called cdmaOne. It's a type of 2G cellular network (like EDGE). The 3G version of CDMA would be called either ED-VO or CDMA2000.

Why they named it the same? No idea.

WCDMA is not related to CDMA...they are unrelated.
