Heres my best way to describe how to have a clean iPod.
Make sure you that the artist name and the album name is spelt right which can really help organize your iTunes Music. Here's a screen shot on what I mean by this.

Now instead of putting 'Usher' as a name and its spelt differently for example 'Ushers' then on the Cover Flow another album will pop up. Look at this screen shot now.

That will also affect your iPod by putting 'Usher' and 'Ushers' into your iPod when you look by artist.
You should really put the artist name (Flo Rida) and put the album (Mail On Sunday) for example. Make sure you put the right song name so its easier for you to find a song on your iPod like Low instead of Flo Rida - Low.
When you highlight multiple items you and right click and click on Get Info you edit your artist and album much faster. Be careful because when you Edit and multiple songs you can also edit all the songs name. You wouldnt want to have 5 Low even though its another song.
Holding CTRL+Left Click on a song one by one helps you highlight your wanted songs and edit or even move the song into your playlist that you want to put it into just a bit faster. (Right click on the highlighted songs and hit Add to Playlist and find the play list you wanted to add it to)
Another fast tip on organizing your music and by picking a song and highlight it, then hold SHIFT and pick another song. It will highlight all the song from the 1st song you highlighted to the 2nd.
If you have an iTunes Store account you can easily get 600x600 artwork album by right-clicking on a song and choose Get Album Artwork. Though, when you do that, it searches through iTunes by the the artist name and album for the artwork. If it doesnt matches then it will say it couldnt find the album artwork for it. Every letter has to match the same exact letter in iTunes Store.
I spend time doing this, I hope you use it really well.
