can you use an Apple I phone with Verizon Wireless service?

I really want to purchase an Apple I Phone but have and will continue to carry Verizon Wireless cell phone service. Is it possible to set up an I phone for this service. Verizon said no but I want to make sure

no, the I phone is for ATT, which uses GSM, verizon's network is CDMA, they are not compatible technologies..

SORRY its att only ive heard of a few hacks to get it on t-mobile but that voids your warranty just switch to att its so much better
