Apple Iphone problem?

My iphone seems perfectly fine when I wake it up from sleep, but for some reason I can not turn it off and when I try to type in my password, the numbers click but they dont appear on the screen so i cant get in. I definately know the right password, its that the dots dont show up on the screen as i type.
