iPhone: MAC & PC?

2 Questions. I activated my iPhone on a PC at my work. but I use MAC at home. I tried syncing my iPhone with my MAC but iTunes doesn't recognize it. However, my MAC does open up Picture Project so I know it knows something is there. 1) Can the same iPhone work on a PC and a MAC?? 2)I heard that I had to completly restore my iPhone to get it to work on my MAC, is that true?
