Default I just got the apple iphone, but i am having trouble?

I just got my apple iphone, its actually for my husband, I already have a plan with At&t, however I will I go about to use the same phone number, to the new iphone? Cause obviously you can not change the sim card. I went on the apple website and it says just to go on itunes(which we have) and from there it will do it, is that true?
for your information it was not $600 and thats not the question i'm asking

hi there... i just got the iphone like a week ago... love it!..
the best thing to do is just call at&t customer service. they will help you set up the iphone.... it's quick and easy.. and yes you could still use the same number.
