I've known that you can unlock apple iphones to work for other carriers but you have to buy it off of ebay. Would it be safe doing this of could the phone be hurt. Also I wanted to buy one of the old ipod nanos on ebay and they have them out for like $25.00 why would they be so cheap?

The iphones are only for at&t and i saw this morning on the news that they are installing mew software next week so that hackers cant unblock the phones anymore.

Unless you have more money than you know what to do with, don't buy an unlocked iphone from ebay. THere is a very real chance that the software will be messed up and that the phone will re-lock when itunes updates their software. I would hate for you to have to be trying to unlock the phone over and over again. -- as far as the old nanos, are you sure they are real-- even the older version is selling for more than $25.
