VPN on Apple Iphone?

Can someone give me an example on why you would use this feature of the phone? Is it when i am connected at a wifi i can just vpn to a LAN that is more secure or? Can someone give me different examples on how they would use this...thanks
Yeah but why would you want to connect to VPN via apple iphone? it has a VPN feature and i want to know an example on why people would use that feature?
