Temporarily in Alberta and I need cell phone service?

I have an unlocked GSM Sony Ericsson phone that I got from living in the Caribbean and now I'm temporarily living in Alberta for the next few months. I want to get cell phone service, but I haven't yet found a plan that won't lock me in for 3 years and force me to buy a new phone. I just want cell phone service for the next 3-6 months in Canada at a reasonable price. Any recommendations?
