can non-tmobile wifi phones work with t-mobiles t-mobile@home service?

if i buy a phone that is not from t-mobile and yet has wi-fi can i use that phone with t-mobile's wi-fi at home service?

oh and I am referring to T-Mobile USA since I live in the states myself. Thank you.
