Is there a cheaper service for cell phone GSM / GPRS data (not voice) service
outside the U.S.? I'm a heavy user of GRPS (internet on my laptop via my cell phone) on the AT&T network in the U.S. When traveling outside the U.S. the fees are huge - $20/MB! I tried to buy pay-as-you-go SIM cards (yes, my cellphone is unlocked), but nobody there could tell me if those cards were good for GPRS or EDGE data in addition to voice.
Surely there must be an less expensive way for a globetrotter to stay connected. Any insights?
