Default I bought a Nokia 2310 cell phone while staying in Australia. How can I use it...

...in the U.S.? I bought the phone from Vodafone. It has a SIM card in it but -- here in the U.S. we don't really deal with SIM cards in our phones. Is there a way I can use this phone in the U.S.? Can I buy a SIM card here in the U.S. that will work? Thanks!
