I just bought a samsung cell phone?

I just bought a Samsung U600, It doesn't have a sim card and is Unlocked. Where and how can I activate it?
Where can i get a SIM card? Does it have to be from a certain company?
I have Verizon. PLease help me with all you can. Thanks
