On my LG cingular phone, it shows no service in an area where I know there is

service.? My battery shows a full charge. It used to be that when this happened I could turn the phone off and then when I turned the phone back on, it would show "Cingular" on the display and have service, but this isn't working anymore. Anything I should try before I have to go to the AT&T store? Thanks for your responses.
