It takes a lot to boost a stock like AT&T. Their revenue stream is so huge that a single new product is unlikely to make that much difference. Certainly they are expecting a nice revenue stream from buyers of the IPhone, but the price point is very high and the need not yet demonstrated for this new gadget. It always takes time to see which gadget introduction becomes a blockbuster and which are just so-so. At this price point, businesses will be the most likely customers, and it's hard for me to see how this gadget is more compelling than others already established in the marketplace. Cingular already has a huge cellular market share, and it is hard to see how many new customers will come to Cingular because they buy the IPhone.
