Does anyone know if Alltel cell phones will work with Cellular One?

For example, if i bought a cell phone off of Ebay that had been used with Alltel, would I be able to use it with my current provider, which is Cellular One by just switching my SIM card over into it? I heard a while back that Alltel bought out Cellular One. I could call my company, but they always just say "don't buy cell phones from Ebay".
