pre-pay phones-month by month, virgin mobile, verizon, alltell?

I want to know with, virgin mobile, verizon and alltel monthly pre-pay, if when you text and you dont have a texting plan, do they take it out of your minutes?..or add it onto you bill?..i have tracfone right now and they take it out of your minutes, which i prefer..thats why im asking

AT&T chargest .05cents per message to other AT&T wireless, otherwise it's .10cents per message. At least that's how it was under Cingular.

I have Virgin Mobile and it costs me 5 cents ea under my plan, but they do have some plans with free minutes and free txting.
